TOOTHLESS SISYPHUS (VIDEO)

To wrap up the week, we have a unique watching experience for you from the collective minds of Toothless (Ed Nash) and directors Kit Monteith, Joseph Keirs and Sef Tedder. As with most music videos, the inspiration came straight from Nash’s song ‘Sisyphus’, a weary indie-pop interpretation of the Greek myth of Sisyphus who as part of divine punishment was forced to push a boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down again. Once the directorial team got their hands on this idea, they Black Mirrored it. As Monteith illuminates: “We imagined the often upbeat and happy people inside GIFs as prisoners, forced to repeat the same sunny smile or hammy performance forever with a growing sense of madness. As such, rather than loop the footage in Sisyphus, each clip is a separately filmed attempt to recreate the exact same move with a little more crazy each time.” Completely original, brilliant and as you would expect with a video of rolling GIFs, generously comedic. - HT
